The Office of Nuclear Energy Issues Requests for Applications for Nuclear Science and Engineering Scholarships and Fellowships

The Office of Nuclear Energy (NE), within the Department of Energy (DOE), today announced two new Requests for Applications (RFAs) that will fund scholarships and fellowships for nuclear science and engineering students.

NE expects to award $5 million for approximately 70 undergraduate scholarships and 30 graduate fellowships to U.S. students and legal permanent residents through its Nuclear Energy University Programs RFAs.

Undergraduate scholarships are $5,000 for one year. The maximum award for fellowships is anticipated to be $50,000 a year over three years, with an additional one time $5,000 allotment to fund a minimum 10-week internship at a DOE national laboratory or other designated facility.

Applications for the Scholarship and Fellowship RFAs are due on February 8, 2012, and must be submitted using the submittal application at www.neup.gov. NE will likely notify award recipients in April 2012.
