Mr. Henry (Brew) Barron Jr.
Brew Barron is a nuclear engineer and specialist in commercial nuclear power operations. He currently serves as president, chief executive officer and chairman of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, LLC, managing the safe and efficient operation of the company’s three nuclear power plants, Calvert Cliffs, Nine Mile Point and R. E. Ginna. He is also presently an executive vice president of Constellation Energy. He served for 36 years with Duke Energy Corporation before joining Constellation Energy in April, 2008. He started as an engineer at the Oconee Nuclear Station and continued with plant engineering and operations oversight at the McGuire Station. He then became superintendent of operations at Catawba Station, station manager at the Oconee Station, and later manager of the nuclear assessment and issues division of Duke’s nuclear generation department. In 1994, Barron was named the vice president and general manager of nuclear operations at the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Engineering as part of the Duke Engineering & Services, LLC, subsidiary. In 1997, he became the site vice president of the McGuire Nuclear Station. He was subsequently named senior vice president for nuclear operations and later chief nuclear officer for Duke Energy Corporation. Barron acted as Chairman of the Board of Governors for Duke, COGEMA, and Stone & Webster LLC. He is also the former Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Westinghouse Owner’s Group and Chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Nuclear Strategic Issues Advisory Committee, and is currently a member of the Department of Energy Nuclear Energy Advisory Committee and the Nuclear Energy Institute Executive Committee. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society where he previously acted as Chairman of the Reactor Operations Division and the Piedmont/Carolinas section and a former member of the Accrediting Board of the National Academy for Nuclear Training. He earned his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from University of Virginia and acquired professional engineering licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina and Idaho.
