FY 1999 Awards
DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology has awarded 20 Nuclear Engineering Education Research grants to15 universities nationwide. Awards range from approximately $127,000 to $562,000 for projects ranging up to three years subject to the appropriation of funds by the U.S. Congress. The grants allow nuclear engineering faculty and students to conduct innovative research in nuclear engineering and related areas. The awards run from one to three years and are granted in eight separate technical areas such as reactor physics, radiological engineering and applied radiation science. Over 120 proposals were received and underwent a competitive, peer review process before the department selected 20 for fiscal year 1999 funding. The last of these awards, made during May-June 1999, were completed in June. Click here for a list of the universities and projects.
