Nuclear Criticality
The Office of Integrated Safety and Program Assurance NE-43) provides a nuclear criticality resource for the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) facilities where criticality may come into play. The principal activity is to maintain an ongoing, up-to-date awareness of relevant nuclear criticality policies, regulations, activities, and related areas. NE-43 participates in the criticality safety activities of the DOE Nuclear Criticality Safety Program (NCSP) and the American Nuclear Society (ANS). The NCSP is a comprehensive cross-cutting program that maintains the essential infrastructure to support criticality safety programs throughout the DOE complex. Recent NE-43 participation in the ANS Criticality Safety Division and NCSP activities included a Nuclear Criticality Standards Forum, the DOE Nuclear Criticality Safety Program's Contractor End-User's Group Forum, and "New and Improved" Computational Tools for Nuclear Criticality Safety Analysis.
